Quoted in The Age – Smell the roses all year long
This articles discusses the trend in people in their 50′s and 60′s taking a “gap year” before going back to work for one more stretch before retirement. I was interviewed by the journalist and explained how this concept sounds great in theory, however people need to consider the financial impacts but more so, the impact on their careers. Job security is a significant issue for people over the age of 50 and if one year leave is taken, consideration should be given as to the employment opportunities and the difficulty in picking up work upon return from the trip.
If you are over 50 and wanting to plan for retirement, please feel free to send a consultation request and we can discuss your options and provide clarity on the best way forward.
